  Objectives: Describe the key components of a recovery perspective Describe behaviors that constitute ‘showing respect’ Describe changes in language that ‘show respect’ for mental health consumers Describe ways of educating people that enhance learning Describe research data that supports the belief that people with mental illness can recover.
  Description: The recovery perspective is strongly supported as policy by the federal government and underlies several different approaches to providing mental health service. In this unit, we will examine the recovery perspective and define its key components. In addition, we will examine some of the attitudes, beliefs, knowledge and skills that you will need regardless of the approach used in helping individuals with mental illness recover.
