Objectives:
We describe an evolving series of psychological interventions that appear to diminish dissociation. These techniques teach the patient to objectively clarify, to conduct a dialogue with, and to negotiate with their voices.
Description:
The following content is available in this volume: (1) A description of psychological interventions used to decrease command hallucinations in combat veterans with PTSD-related hallucinations (2) A study of the use of the acoustic startle response in animals as a model to study the failure to habituate to traumatic cues. (3 A summary of a model of memory describing the formation of traumatic memories and circumstances that lead to the creation and recovery of traumatic memories.
