Online Course Title: Are We Manufacturing Victims?
  Category: 1
  Credits: 1

Objectives: Readers will be able to describe the three steps of victimization, i.e., psychologizing, pathologizing and generalizing, implemented by the Psychology Industry - described by the author Readers will be able to describe at least two instances of applying each of those three steps of victimization Relevance: Tana Dineen's writings are important for all practitioners to consider. She strongly challenges many of the 'psychological' beliefs that have become generally accepted in our society as true, stating that there is very little scientific support for many of them. Any practitioner who wishes to maintain an ethical practice should be aware of the challenges to many of our common practices. Statements made to clients and to the public should be quite clear that they are not supported scientifically, if, in fact, they are not.
Description: In this article, Tana Dineen, Ph.D., an active advocate for a greater scientific base to psychologys (including all behavioral health practitioners) pronouncements about behavior, provides a critique of the Psychology Industry's approach to sexual harassment. She briefly describes the process of victimization implemented by the Psychology Industry. For anyone concerned with the pathologization of all aspects of life, her writings are stimulating. Keywords: Critique, victims, sexual harassment, victimization, counterpoint, PTSD, depression
